Join us this Saturday, Oct. 14th at 3:00 p.m. as we rally for the Mighty Tiger Marching Band on their way to the 2023 PIGSKIN JUBILEE! 🎶🐾🎉 The Tiger Band will take the field with their Pigskin performance at 5:30 p.m. at Bobby Morrow Stadium in San Benito. Tickets are $8.00. Let's bring the spirit and cheer on their hard work and dedication!

Congratulations to the students who competed in the Region 28 TMEA Orchestra auditions. Earning a chair in the Honor Orchestra were: Bella Reynoso, violin; Maria Ozuna, violin, and Trey Tamez, piano. 🎻🎹 The Orchestra is comprised of the top student musicians in our region and a testament to their dedication and skills. The MISD Orchestra is under the direction of Mark Reney and Elijah Lopez. Congratulations to the directors for preparing the students and a job well done to all the young musicians! 🎶🌟

Attention MISD Families! We are excited to share that Mercedes ISD is rolling out Remind district-wide! If you're not already familiar with Remind, it's a classroom communication tool that makes it easy to stay involved with your child's learning. Remind is free to use, and you'll be able to get and send messages on any device—even a simple text message from your phone! As part of this rollout, official accounts will be created for all the educators & parents at each campus in the coming days. You will be receiving a text message from Remind. All you need to do is follow the steps in the message to finish setting up your account. Also, we've already set the preferred language for you so you can receive messages in your home language. As long as the teacher is receiving replies, you can also send messages back in your preferred language, and they’ll automatically be translated into the teacher’s preferred language. Congratulations to the Mercedes High School Homecoming Court! Announced during the halftime festivities were King Samuel Moreno and Queen Alyn Maldonado. Other members of the court included Prince Nathan Lopez, Princess Carina Rabel, Duke Justin Davila, Duchess Anastasia Gomez, Duke Barrett Rabel, and Duchess Kalynn Serna. Congratulations to all!

Mercedes High School and Mercedes Early College Academy students continue to bring enthusiasm and high energy to #GUweek. ⚙💜 Wednesday’s theme, “Build Your Future” saw students donning construction gear 🏗🦺 and today students could be spotted wearing their favorite college t-shirts in support of college and career readiness. 🎓🎉

District leadership had the opportunity to connect with parents and community members yesterday evening as part of the Family and Community Engagement "Schools in Our Community" series. 🤝🏫 Topics included college, career, and military readiness opportunities, elementary focus on reading and math, attendance guidelines, the district's partnership with Nuestra Clinica del Valle, counseling services, anti-bullying initiatives, safety and security, and our collaborative efforts for student success. Superintendent Ms. Maria J. Chavez would like to thank all district personnel in attendance and involved in planning our first "Schools in Our Community" event and our host parents for their tremendous hospitality. The next series will be held Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. at 10223 W. Mercedes Drive, Mercedes. Nuestro primer evento "Escuelas En Nuestra Comunidad" fue un éxito.
