Join us in congratulating Mercedes High School senior Miranda Aleman and Mercedes Early College Academy senior Maximo Castro for being selected as 2023- 2024 Border Patrol Head of the Class nominees! 👏🎓 The students’ exceptional performance in the classroom, extracurricular participation, leadership skills and commitment to community involvement earned them this prestigious recognition. The campuses had the distinct pleasure of welcoming Juan G. Ramos, a Border Patrol agent with RGV Sector Headquarters, to present the students with a well-deserved certificate. We are #MISDproud!

The Lady Tigers displayed strength and determination at the UIL District 32-5A Track meet last week, giving it their all against some tough competition. We are #MISDproud to share their outstanding achievements: 🐾 Randi Lara earned 6th place in the 3200-meter run 🐾 Alyna Gonzalez earned 5th place Discus Throw 🐾 Mia Gonzalez brought home 6th place Shot Put 🐾 Jaymie Flores took 6th place in the Long Jump, 2nd place in the Triple Jump, 1st place in the 100 meters and 1st place in the 200 meters. 🐾 Isabella Parker brought home 1st place in the High Jump, 1st place in the 100-meter hurdles and 3rd place in the 300-meter hurdles. 🐾 Kenzie Rodriguez earned 3rd place in 200-meters and 5th place in 100-meters. 🐾 Hayden Ledesma earned 6th place in the 300-meter hurdles. 🐾 The 400-Meter Relay team, consisting of Hayden Ledesma, Kenzie Rodriguez, Isabella Parker and Jaymie Flores, earned 4th place. 🐾 The 800-Meter Relay team, consisting of Isabella Molina, Hayden Ledesma, Leslie Gaona and Avie Garza, earned 6th place. Online registration is now open for the 2024-2025 school year! 📚✏️ If you need help with school registration, our Mercedes ISD Family & Community Engagement parental liaisons are providing assistance at the district’s Registration Intake Center, located at the Mercedes ISD Auditorium, 837 S. Ohio. UIL Sweepstakes win for the Mercedes Tiger Wind Ensemble! 👏🎶🏆 The Wind Ensemble celebrated a perfect score of straight 1s from judges at this week’s UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluations. The ensemble is under the proud direction of Mr. Guy McKinney. 📚✨ National Reading Month is all about embracing the joy of reading and highlighting the importance of literacy. Taylor Elementary Librarian Lynda Garza extended an invitation to Mercedes High School student leaders to participate in Taylor Elementary's Third Annual National Reading Month celebration. MHS RGV LEAD Ambassadors and FFA members provided a unique opportunity for Taylor students to see the real-world application of reading and writing skills, as well as expose them to new books and authors.
