If you need help with school registration, our Mercedes ISD Family & Community Engagement parental liaisons are providing assistance at the districtās Registration Intake Center, located at the Mercedes ISD Auditorium, 837 S. Ohio. The team will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. beginning this week, and will also help parents navigate their enrollment process during additional after-school hours this evening (Tuesday, April 2), as well as Monday, April 8 and Tuesday, April 9 from 5-7 p.m. Letās get your student registered and ready for an amazing school year ahead! āØš¾

šāØ National Reading Month is all about embracing the joy of reading and highlighting the importance of literacy.
Taylor Elementary Librarian Lynda Garza extended an invitation to Mercedes High School student leaders to participate in Taylor Elementary's Third Annual National Reading Month celebration. MHS RGV LEAD Ambassadors and FFA members provided a unique opportunity for Taylor students to see the real-world application of reading and writing skills, as well as expose them to new books and authors.

Mercedes High School students recently participated in a Senior Workshop led by Ms. Martha Morales to review different strategies that they can implement to help prepare them for the English I and English II STAAR tests.
Students were actively engaged in learning effective approaches for both reading and writing domains, and we'd like to give a special Tiger shout out to our English teachers for taking the lead to empower our students. šš Bravo to the Mercedes One-Act Play cast and crew for their exceptional performance of Henreik Ibsen's āA Doll's Houseā One Act Adaptation by Albert Pia at the UIL Zone A Competition on Monday, March 18.
Senior Brooke Leal was one of eight actors and actresses to be recognized as an All-Star Cast Member, while senior Ramsey Castaneda and junior Nicholas Espitia-Gamez were named to the Honorable Mention All-Star Cast. Senior Michelle Barrientos also received a Tech Award for her invaluable work on the crew.

Members of the 1986 Varsity Tigers State Finalist baseball team gathered for a special moment of tribute and remembrance for their head coach, the late Don Derryberry, during the 2024 Mercedes Knights of Columbus tournament. The team was joined by Chris Derryberry, son of the late Coach Derryberry.
The team honored the impact of Coach Derryberryās lasting legacy and the bonds of teamwork and friendship that were forged under his guidance, along with his passion for the game and unwavering commitment to excellence.
